We found this poor pup emaciated and abused, and managed to rescue her in the nick of time. We’ve been feeding her up, and already she is looking much better.

Twixie is a female Alsation cross. She’s an incredibly sweet and gentle dog who loves human company as well as other dogs. She needs a foster home for a couple of months to recover fully before she finds her forever home. When she’s better, Twix is going to make some lucky family a really outstanding pet.

Despite his pitiful condition and a very serious injury to his leg, he [...]]]> This is an incredible rescue story. A couple were driving along near the Panorama area on Friday, 1 May when they spotted a terribly unkempt dog at the side of the road. They rescued him and brought him in to DARG.

Despite his pitiful condition and a very serious injury to his leg, he allowed the DARG volunteers to wash him and trim all the matted, mucky dreadlocks away. It took two volunteers more than an hour to get him into a condition where we could begin to help him. During the whole time, he never growled or snapped once, taking the treatment like a champ. It’s because of his gentleness and patience that the staff at DARG decided to name him Mungo, meaning Amiable in ancient Gaelic.

We’ve treated his leg, and it looks like he’s going to be fine once he recovers and gets some much needed loving care and attention. As soon as his leg heals, we’ll give him a proper groom, some food in his tummy and a start on the road to recovery. We’re desperately looking for a temporary foster home for Mungo in which to recuperate until he’s well enough to find his forever family. Little Diesel was rescued when he was only one week old. Thanks to his foster mom, he survived! When a prospective owner requested a Feline FIV test, he was diagnosed positive. Vets were reluctant to do it when he was so young as sometimes it can simply be that they are still carrying antibodies of mom.

Vets want him tested again at 6 months. In the mean time, Diesel will need a home. He’s now 4 weeks old, strong and so far healthy. There is a possibility that he’ll remain Feline FIV positive, so he’ll need to be an only cat, preferably in a flat.

According to vets, 20% of cats tested positive only live until the age of 6 years, but the other 80% live out their full lives asymptomatically. Diesel needs someone to love him, unconditionally, selflessly, and enjoy every moment he’s around!

Meet Twiggy: This young mommy was rescued with her litter of nine puppies. She’s severely emaciated and covered in ticks. Even the pups had ticks!

Unfortunately it was too late to save two of them, and another two (the smallest) are in foster care under constant supervision. They’re drinking from Cola, a mommy dog who had still born pups but was still full of milk.

The remaining 5 are doing well, eating and playing! Mom has five smallish meals a day and is also on the way to recovery, although it will be a much longer journey for her! She’s wagging her tail a little more, and realizing that not all humans are bad. Her life can only get better from now!

Twiggy’s pups will be ready for adoption in 3 weeks… Twiggy will need to recover a little more before being spayed and adopted. This would happen much faster in a foster home so if you think you can care for Twiggy for a couple of months until she has fully recovered than please let us know!
